I speak plainly, I say.
But, what do I really know, anyway?
I may hope to be understood by tomorrow
while speaking only in metaphors, today.
[Yea, I don’t write great poetry on the fly.]
I thought my mouth did speak
When, you say, it was just my eyes.
Words did not come easily
With your hair blacking out the sky.
Your brown skin silenced my emotion
Like the earth absorbing the sea.
Your smile stole everything else,
Leaving me speechless and warm as can be.
I speak plainly, I say.
But, what do I really know, anyway?
I may hope to be understood by tomorrow
while speaking only in metaphors, today.
