Welcome Reader!

If you have found your way here, thank you for spending a few moments with my words. In a world that moves quickly, where attention is constantly pulled in a hundred different directions, you choosing to pause and read is a gift.

I’m Nuraine Sadaf, this space exists because of a belief that stories matter. Poems matter. Paintings matter. Music, photographs, and all forms of creative expressions matter.

Imagine a world without art! No novels to lose yourself in on rainy days. No songs to comfort a broken heart. No paintings that make you stop and wonder. No stories passed down through generations. For years, art has been record of humanity and a part of ourselves that cannot be expressed any other way.

A world without art would still function, but you lose what makes it worth living. Art gives meaning to our experiences, it helps us understand humanity across cultures, languages, and time. Here, I will try to create a space where thoughts can flow freely and art can find home in the embrace of words.

In my writing, I attempt to capture the essence of life’s beauty, its complexities, and emotions that make us human…with a hope that readers can find a moment of peace and reflection amidst the chaos of the world.

Make yourself comfortable, grab a cup of tea, and stay as long as you like! On this blog, you can find the below categories:

  1. Poems: Emotions and feelings, woven into simple verses.
  2. Handwritten Letters: An old-world form of connection; letters penned just for you.
  3. Short Stories: Tales that’ll make you ponder about life.
  4. Sketches: Quick doodles bringing stories to life.
  5. Book Reviews: My thoughts on books that left an imprint on me.
  6. 8-Word Stories: Bite-sized tales for a quick read.
  7. Travel: Journey with me through places, memories, and experiences.

Support Artists!

Creating art often requires something difficult: Time! Choosing the artistic path involves devoting ourselves fully to create work that enrich the lives of others. While my work is freely shared, it is never created without effort, dedication, and love. Supporting artists is not merely supporting a person, it is about helping to preserve a culture of creativity, imagination, and human connection. With a hope for a world where stories continue to be told and where art remains accessible to those who need it most.

If my writing has made your day a little brighter, I invite you to consider supporting this work. Even the smallest contribution can make a meaningful difference. A cup of coffee, a monthly subscription, or a kind donation may seem modest, but collectively these gestures allow writers and artists to continue creating.

On this note, I’ll leave you with this poem by Walt Whitman, the opening of “Leaves of Grass” from ‘Song of Myself’. On the surface, it might feel like the poet is talking about himself, but when you read it, you will see that “I” becomes “we”

 "I CELEBRATE myself,
And what I assume you shall assume,
For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.

I loafe and invite my soul,
I lean and loafe at my ease . . . . observing a spear of summer grass."

This poem is not about self-celebration but about human experiences, what he discovers about himself belongs to everyone. Be it rich or poor, famous or unknown, every person shares the same universe and the same existence. We are made of the same atoms, we are not separate. ‘For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.’

I had to look up the word “loafe”, it means to wander, rest, or simply be idle. If you notice the gentleness, Whitman is not commanding but inviting himself, his soul, to pause and notice the ordinary. We spend our days trying to be most productive, trying to find beauty in grand places and palaces… but he rejects the idea of rushing. Instead asks us to notice something as simple as a single blade of grass. It is something we often walk past without noticing. But, Whitman stops and studies it because ordinary is scared, divine is not in heaven but in everyday life. A smile from a stranger, a child playing by a fountain, a worker on a street, a laborer, a lover, are all worthy of attention.

As writers and poets, this is what we try to do, take something ordinary and look at it so deeply that it becomes a symbol of life. The grass is never just grass, it is an entire universe made into something small enough to be held in your hand.

Thank you for reading, for sharing, and believing that words still matter.
