Those Warm Fuzzy Dreams

Dearest Reader,
This morning, I woke up with a warm, fuzzy feeling and that feeling has lingered with me throughout the day. It began with a dream—one of those fleeting reveries where we unexpectedly meet people that we seldom think of, or perhaps those who we often think of. When you remember such a dream upon waking, then just like that, the entire day becomes special.
In our dreams, we are free from the constraints of reality; we act upon our deepest desires without hesitation. We become the creators of our own dreamscape, we weave scenes, we make things happen. They might not always be joyful. At times, our dreams lead us down paths we would never tread in waking life—like we know we shouldn’t be leaping off a cliff, but in our dream we do it, and wake up screaming, thanking the heavens of still being alive and scolding the subconscious to have done something so dangerous and dramatic. For me, it is the cursed apparition of flying cockroaches—a fear so profound that even writing the word sends shivers down my spine. Yet, our minds, in their playful mischief, often revel in toying with our fears.
Thankfully today dear reader, the emotion was not fear, I was spared from such terrors. Instead, I was gifted with a dream that made me feel all warm and fuzzy—a dream that could never be made real, nor should it be, for that is the essence of dreams. And in dreams everything is allowed! So here goes my dream, I was with a person that I have grown up being in love with. The one who taught me the meaning of the word love. Though we have never met, I know all about him and my love for him is wholesome, and the mere thought of him brings a smile to my face.
In my dream, I was in his home, waiting for his return from a journey with his family, attending to some tasks while he was away. When they arrived, they thanked me and resumed their lives. Just seeing him filled me with an unutterable joy.
As I made my way to the door, something extraordinary occurred—something that, though imagined, has left me with a lasting sense of joy. The person who I love called my name and approached me. My heart raced as he came closer and he did what I exactly wanted him to do, he looked at me with a smile and hugged me. I melted in his arms and awoke in my bed with a smile and that warm, fuzzy feeling—a feeling of love.
Perhaps my mind conjured this moment to bring me joy. That hug, though imagined, has carried me through the day, filling me with a sense of love that is pure and unburdened by the complexities of reality.
Love, after all, comes in many forms—it is not confined to the love we share with a partner! We often impose silly rules and limitations upon ourselves, preventing us from revealing our true selves. While these dreams may not be something we can share with the world, let us hold onto them in quiet reflection, treasuring these fleeting moments of warmth and joy, and savoring the secret happiness they bring us.
Have you ever had a dream so vivid and full of warmth that, even though it could never be real, it left you smiling throughout the day?
What secret dreams or fleeting moments of joy do you quietly hold close to your heart?
I’d love to hear from you! Share your daydreams and stories with me at nuraine.sadaf@gmail.com or share your thoughts in the comments.
